At NOVA Therapeutic Community, Inc., we believe that an individual can Change a Life In the Right Direction. This is accomplished by changing an individual's lifestyle through a community of concerned people working together to help themselves and each other.
NOVA, an acronym that stands for New Options, Values and Achievements, is a nonprofit organization that has provided behavioral health services to more than 7,000 individuals with substance use disorders and mental health problems for more than 25 years. NOVA also provides foster care placement for infants, children and adolescents as well as in-home services.
Therapeutic Communities, located across the United States and in many countries around the world, provide unique residential and outpatient behavioral health treatment programs for children, adolescents and adults. Through a program based on the Therapeutic Community concept of family, NOVA helps program members help themselves and each other to break the cycle of neglect or abuse, misconduct, and substance use, which in turn will lead to substantive and positive changes in lifestyles.
In addition to residential and outpatient treatment services for behavioral health problems, NOVA provides Foster Care placement and support services geared toward infants, children and adolescents who are at-risk and in need of a safe, protective environment. NOVA Foster Care parents receive the training and support they need to provide the best care to children who are hurting or in-crisis.
NOVA Therapeutic Community, Inc. is committed to excellence in providing behavioral healthcare and education programs for children, adolescents and adults whose lives have been adversely affected by substance use, family turmoil and other psychosocial problems that endanger positive growth and healthy functioning.
We are dedicated to the dual principles of self-help and social competence as the primary means by which to achieve sustainable sobriety and a responsible, productive way of life. We are committed to providing family-based sanctuary, safety, comfort and protection for children and adolescents who cannot care for or effectively protect themselves from exploitation, temptation or injury.
NOVA Therapeutic Community, Inc. has served thousands of individuals and families since 1984 in this rental building at 3483 Larimore Avenue in Omaha, NE.
Prior to NOVA's occupancy, other organizations continuously occupied the building since the 1950s. Having served decades of students, program members and many others, the building is now showing its age.
After careful consideration and exploration of possible options, NOVA determined a new state-of-the-art facility with outdoor green space for recreational and leisure activities would best serve current and future needs of its residential and outpatient programs.
