Shoebox units have become well known in the Singaporean property market ever since 2007/2008, when they were present in the City and City Fringe districts. They've since invaded other mass market districts, as well. Essentially, these are units less than 500 sq ft, making them the smallest type of condominium units available.
Despite their size - or perhaps because jovell showflat of it - they are increasingly popular among property investors, as renting them out brings better returns compared to rental yields from larger units. In addition, property investors are looking to rent out their units to foreigners that are working in Singapore, though recent policy changes partially hinder this endeavor.
The following months are expected to experience a surge in condominium supply, as a result of more of such homes being built. Because of the discrepancy between demand and supply, rentals are heading southwards.
