Outside of the educational settings, sometimes portable buildings are used during home improvement or expansion so that you can build onto your property without paying the high price of alternative lodgings. At other times they can act as a storage structure to place goods in while renovating or improving a home. Once again, given the fact that portable buildings are easily erected and easily taken back down it will be much less of a hassle to take advantage of this type of structure then to pay fees for storage or lodging elsewhere during the time period in which you need some temporary space.

Finally, the last reason why demountable mobile classrooms are sometimes used is to help supplement space in the healthcare environment. In some regions of the world and country where healthcare is not so easy to access or during times of calamity even in developed counties portable buildings are set up so that people have a place to seek out healthcare, whereas otherwise they may have had to travel a great distance to find help. Many times free clinics and free consultations are handed out at portable medical stations to help inform a community about a disaster such as flooding or simply to supplement the healthcare that is currently available.
