For instance, Japanese koi are usually harvested during October in Japan. Because of this it is expected to reach other countries at around November or December. However, you may need a heated pond in the event that you plan on buying koi fishes during the months of December or November to prevent the fishes from freezing. On the other hand, large scale koi fish suppliers usually have stock all year round.

Also, you will have to consider the koi fish for sale quarantined duration of the fishes. It is important because it is during this period that you will know if the koi fishes will develop illnesses or not. Most often than not, a quarantine period of one month is already enough however koi fishes living in cold countries may take longer time to develop illnesses. No matter how long the fishes were quarantined, it is still best to isolate the new fishes away from the older ones so as to prevent the spread of diseases.
